And you don't want to be here in the future So you say the present's just a pleasant Interruption to the past And you don't want to look much closer 'Cause you're afraid to find out all the hope That you had sent into the sky by now had crashed ( And it did because of me... )

My house looks as though it hasn't been lived in for weeks is a mess. It amazes me how it can just magically get so out of control on its own. Yes, that is right - all of the mess is the house's fault and most certainly not my own.
I've also finally gotten around to putting up Christmas decorations, but I'm trying to debate over whether or not I should wait to get the tree until Lacey is here this weekend. I don't know if that sort of thing will still be important to a mature young lady of Hogwarts or if I will turn into an incessant nag that forces her to decorate against her will. The latter is far more tempting than it ought to be, I'm sure.

The Christmas holidays are in sixteen days and I am looking forward to them more than I think I ever did while I was in Hogwarts.
On the other hand, I'm sure that I will be ready for school to start again by the 27th.

When I was in Hogwarts, I remembered being so jealous of the third years when I was in my first and second year because they were old enough to be able to go to Hogsmeade. (And, of course, they were starting to "develop" and when I was eleven that was all I wanted in the world. Little did I know.)
Kelly just mentioned that she'll be seeing her son over the weekend because of Hogsmeade and I suddenly found myself jealous of the third years once again.
How many days until the Christmas holidays?

There is something about seeing family that just brings a person right on down. Then again, that could be just me.

I'm sitting here doing my work, but I can't seem to concentrate. I had been doing fairly well after the first week or so after my daughter left for school, but now it feels as though it's started all over again. I have multiple pictures of Lacey in my office, but there's this one on my desk from when she was just a little girl that I keep looking at and getting all nostalgic over. It's this picture of her - actually, let me copy it.
( Picture! )
A while after Sturgis and I finalized the di After She was about three when this was taken and we had visited my parents. They have these huge bushes of all sorts of berries and she used to, well - you saw the picture. I honestly don't know what it is about that picture, but it just gives me a warm feeling and wish that she wasn't so far away.

That poor girl; no, that poor family. I can't even begin to imagine the pain that it might cause to lose a child. I also hate that the most I can do is offer my sincerest condolences through written words.
And I most certainly do hope that the sincerity of my saying that isn't something that can be questioned.
